Happy Monday Everyone! I really wish it wasn’t Monday. I suppose I really wouldn’t care if it were Monday if I were somewhere else…like Paris. Today I am just thinking about how intoxicating Paris is and that I haven’t been to Europe in almost a year. I think I need to remedy that….soon!
So there I was at DSW on my birthday shopping for a pair of birthday shoes when I find this pair of Steven by Steve Madden Studded ankle booties in the clearance section. The only pair left and in my size. I was in love….
So commences the purchase justification conversation I have in my head:
‘They are like nothing I have in my closet. They’re adventurous, edgy and definitely hot! Lets face it, sometimes a girl needs to have a shoe that isn’t so ‘play it safe!’ The fun of fashion is about taking risks… AND they’re on sale!!’
So I go through the checkout line and the cashier says to me “Oh, I was so going to buy these, but then my boyfriend talked me out of it. He told me they were too much.” TOO MUCH?? I thought, ‘honey if you let him convince you they were too much then you don’t deserve them! HA! Happy Birthday to me!!’
But what I did tell her is “It’s all in how you wear them.” I smiled, walked out and I can’t tell you how many compliments I have gotten on them since!

If you’re like me, you rarely go into a fashion boutique without finding things you never knew you needed. If you love fashion as much as I do it doesn’t take much to fall in love with the pretty little things in these stores. So what is it about boutiques that sucks us in? One answer I came up with is the visual stimulation we get when we walk in and everything is set up so nice and in a way that makes us just wanna have it. Plus everything is new and interesting to the eye.
At the moment I need to lay off the shopping. Honestly I have plenty of stuff in my own closet that doesn’t get the rotation it deserves. So it got me thinking about shopping my own closet. I think the way we set up our closets is what makes us feel like the things in it are new again. Bright pink lips are hot for spring appearing on runways as well celebs. It’s a lip color that typically calls for low key eyes, but as you can see, that rule is out the window. That being said, sign me up! Naked eyes have never been my thing so with this rule out of the way it gives me full license to play!
