The Importance of Fragrance Free Skincare

I’ve shared plenty of times the struggles I’ve had with my skin over the last year. In case you are just tuning in, allow me to catch you up. Basically I have been having an allergic reaction where the skin, particularly around my eyes looks dry and a bit shriveled.

I have visited the dermatologist many times over a 12 month period, and even had a patch test where I wore 32 patches for an entire week and the only thing that came up was a paraben sensitivity (unlikely the cause, but good to know none the less!)

What my dermatologist concluded was that I may be having sensitivity to artificial fragrance, which is in almost every beauty product from hair to skincare to makeup. It is also a sensitivity that is extremely hard to pinpoint. He also pointed out that artificial fragrance causes cancer, so it’s something that should be avoided either way.

Ever since being told that, I have been really paying attention to labels and trying to find great products that don’t contain artificial fragrance…it’s not as easy as you would think.

When I came across Jouviance, it was the first thing I noticed…there is absolutely no smell. There are also no parbens, sulphates, phthalates, mineral oils or colourants and it is not tested on animals.

Knowing it was free of those harsh chemicals, I instantly felt good about putting it on my face.

I am all about anti-aging skincare because I am a huge believer in prevention. I tried the 3 in 1 Anti-Age Cream, the AntiOxydant Moisturizer, and the Revive Eye Cream.

I have been using them for the last 3 weeks and I really love how hydrated they leave my skin. Using beauty products that you can feel good about, that actually work is money well spent!

I assume that natural and pure fragrances should be ok, especially considering the benefits of the essential oils, and it's really the synthetic fragrances that are bad, right?
