So NYFW has officially started and I am sad to report I am not attending this season. September was a blast, but my schedule just wouldn’t allow for it right now. What twists the knife even further is receiving those show invites and having to turn them down. (Le Sigh) But having gone to NYFW, I am all too familiar with the hustle and bustle, the excitement and sheer exhaustion that comes along with it. As a blogger there is a commitment and responsibility to contribute to the fashion week experience as a Facemaker. What is a Facemaker you ask? Well according to the people behind Oxygen’s hit reality show The Face, a Facemaker is anyone who helps transform a person into a supermodel. So how do bloggers contribute? We watch, we dissect, we weigh in, we photograph, we bring the latest collections, and those beauties wearing them, directly to you. So by extension you too, are a Facemaker!
Now if I was going to NYFW this season, the major preparation of course would go into my outfits, and this would definitely be something I’d wear. After chatting with some of the gorgeous modeltestants from this season of The Face, I discovered what trends these girls will be rocking .
Alana Duval is all about the skirts with volume, “This season I really like over volume short skirts, so I have bought a bunch of those.” Felisa Wiley likes to keep it classic, “Black on black on black is my main to go outfit.”
I was inspired by my talk with them and their NYFW style, so I decided to put together a look that was a combination of both of these ideas. I love the volume on this skirt and the texture it adds doing black on black. You of course can’t go wrong with a pair of Louboutin’s, and a sparkly statement necklace.
So who’s going to win? You’ll have to tune in to Season 2 of Oxygen’s The Face on Wednesday, March 5th at 10/9c, to see them out their know-how put to the test! But I WILL give you a sneak peek, because that’s just the kind of person I am.
