On My Makeup Radar: Japonesque

Makeup

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to try new brands, particularly beauty brands. I have heard the buzz about the Japonesque makeup line but I haven’t had the chance to try it until now.

You guys…this brand is amazing! Ok, let me preface it by saying I tried 4 products out of the many they have so I can only speak about those, but if the rest of the collection is anything like these products then I would stand behind them 100%. By the way, I was not paid to say any of this, it is my authentic opinion of this makeup.

I have an addiction to makeup brushes so the first thing I tried was the Velvet Touch Eye Brush Set. When I took them out of the package I noticed the handles were so soft and easy to grip, which is probably why they are called Velvet Touch. The set comes with a crease blending brush, which has natural fibers and create nice airbrushed color in the crease. This is great for laying down a transition color or blending out harsh lines. The cut crease belnding brush was mind blowing. It has a beveled tip so the bristles that stick out create a cut crease with hardly any effort. It’s unlike any brush I’ve every tried and I have used it every day since I got it. The other two brushes are a smudger brush which is great for the lower lash line to create a smokey eye, and the angled brush which is great for gel liner, brow pomades and powder liner. This brush set is (wait for it) $25!! This is really unbelievable for brushes of this quality.

The next thing I tried was the Pro Performance Lip Lacquer in Shade 7 which is a pretty bright red. Let me start by saying I want this lip lacquer in every shade! So pigmented and glossy and the formula is tacky enough to stay put but not sticky and uncomfortable. I don’t wear red often, but I think it’s important to have some good shades on hand because you never know when an occasion will call for it. This one will be the one I reach for.

The third product I fell madly in love with, was the Makeup Setting Spray. I am not sure what I ever did before I started using setting sprays, and kind of like dry shampoos, I feel the need to try them all. There are only a few I swear by, and this one has been added to the list. It is an aerosol which creates a nice even application. My makeup stays put for HOURS.

Last but not least the Velvet Touch Eye Shadow Palette in Shade 1. This is a perfect smokey eye palette with a mix of matte and shimmer shades. They are really pigmented and blend like a dream, especially when applied with the Velvet Touch brushes. You can create an amazing glam smokey eye with this and if you’d like to see me do a tutorial on that let me know!
