Off Duty Slides

One of the biggest shoe trends this coming season is slides and believe it or not, I am 100% onboard. Last year, I was obsessed with my leopard birks even after announcing on Twitter months prior that I flat out refused to revert to a trend that gave me undergrad flashbacks of Phish heads running around in them with wool socks…in dead of winter.

I ate those words when I purchased the leopard pair I literally lived in last summer and this year the obsession continues with these Birkenstock slides. They are comfort meets chic and so on trend even designers in Paris got the memo. I got this pair from DSW, who is up to date on the latest trends and brings them to you at affordable prices. They have long been my go to when I have that itch to freshen my shoe closet whether it be trend driven or a seasonal refresh.

Speaking of seasonal refresh, sporty chic is also a major trend and that means mixing those sportier pieces with dressier items. For this look I paired these slides with boyfriend jeans to create an off duty look. Since we are still in a season transition, layers seem to still be necessary so I threw on a cozy burnout tee and added this dressier trench which made the look comfy yet chic. I also used dainty layering jewelry to keep the look a bit more sophisticated. It turned out to be the perfect outfit for running around LA to multiple meetings.

The great thing about this trend is you can really pair slides with even dressier pieces. Skinny jeans, a skirt and tank, and even a shirtdress all work. I have a feeling this is going to be the season of the slides. (Wool socks not included.)
